EK 1914 EKII Austrian ribbon

Another one in my collection, Imperial EKII mounted on an Austrian STYLE tri-fold ribbon. The ribbon is not the not the normal 40mm width, but the standard Prussian issue width. It does however have all the appearance of being a period mounting, was this common at the time?

I once had a noncombatant "white black" one with a BUTTON on the back of its too small trifold for improvized civilian jacket lapel wear.

so was that with a full size medal?

Trifold mounting was used occasionally in Bavaria and Saxony, more frequently in the 19th Century. This might have something to do with them being Austria's ally in the 1866 War and a subtle protest of Prussian supremacy.
