    Hello

I too feel this is a geniune 57 piece, and not one of the repro or copy pieces that can be seen on E-Bay and elsewhere. Is the core magnetic? If so it should be one of the early produced pieces, although not the earliest. From the photo it also gives the impression that it was, and still retains frosting. Is this the case?

Anyway, for what it's worth, I like it.

I have one very similar, down to the mark at 12 o'clock on the rim that was intended to hold the mounting for the ribbon ring

you can just make out the tiny ? and mine was obtained from the son of a Ww2 veteran in Bavaria.

Will look for the original thread with pictures posted here somewhere

Hi thanks for the comments, yes the core is magnetic and does retains some frosting, the pin does suggest that it is a later "Early version" as the pin is not typically wartime stock. kevin, I wondered what the little ring was for, I assumed that it may have been a mark made by a pin which ejected it from the die, but I could be wrong.

    regards

    Alex

Alex the piece marked to the front, was originaly made for the WW2 EK II Class, the mark is the postion where the fixing point for the ribbon ring would be located.
