order_of_victory Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I am considering researching my medal for combat service but as this is unnumbered I need an accurate translation of the name Order of Victory

Guest Rick Research Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 It would be easier to have the researcher look at the images, since transliteration follows rules varying from when we Outlanders learned a particular method going with our own native tongue.1) Kulis, Yekaterina Vasil'evna (1954!!!!)2) Andreichenko, Dmitry Fedorovich. Photo obviously added--hopefully by HIM-- but may not be the same time period as the book (1967). from that year, I'd expect either a jubilee award to an October Reviolution veteran (he doesn't look old enough) orrrrrrr it's a VERY late WW2 award.I always try to have images of the original available. Some years back when I had my Lastovka group researched, he thought the name had to be Lastochka since he had never heard of or seen Lastovka. Yet Lastovka it was. You can never go wrong in the ORIGINAL!

Thanks Rick I did not relise you could send scans to the researcher for refrence So I take it by the exlemation marks you think that 1954 date could yeild somthing intresting Yeah I agree the pic is bit worrying but we shall see Order of Victory
Guest Rick Research Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Well, if they are posted here you can send him the links and he can read them himself. Yeah... 10 years service... a police woman? Can't have been many career military women, unless she was a medical officer. In which case, a personnel file is possible...That 1967 Valor is also likely to be very very interesting indeed.
