Wild Card Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) Gentlemen,Knowing of my interest in militaria (Imperial German and Soviet orders and decorations), a neighbor asked if I might be able to identify the dagger shown below. Guessing that it is post 1918 German, the best that I could do was to place it somewhere between one of Goering?s many daggers and a 1950?s souvenir. If anyone here has any ideas, your thoughts would be very appreciated.Thank you in advance,Wild Card Edited October 7, 2007 by Wild Card
Wild Card Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 The blade is marked ?ECHTER DAMASCHENER?
Wild Card Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 The pommel, which may be shown upside down (sorry).
Guest Rick Research Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Looks like real damascus. It is a hunting knife... civilian... possibly custom made. Not anything "organizational"Hard to say on the initial, since the projecting funny upright's ends are stylized deer hooves, I think... so it could be the owner's initial "W" or "M."
