Ronny Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Opinions wanted on my unmarked EKIWith engravings, is the engravings period made? Can anyone identify the maker of the cross?Thank you all for a great forum, Best regards,Ronny
Mike K Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Hi Ronny,The cross looks like a nice Meybauer - high silver content. Worn paint on the obverse but at least no major rust.Re the engraving, I'll leave that to those more familiar with engraving techniques but from my limited experience it looks like it's been electrically engraved and possibly recently. Noticed the "dot" pattern to form the letters and the total absence of patina in the engraving. The latter observation is in vast contrast to the old silver content mark which now looks black with age patina.RegardsMike K
Ronny Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 Thanks Mike,I have tried to take some close up pictures of the engravings, hard to avoid reflections. Cheers,Ronny
Guest Rick Research Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I agree with Mike. The style doesn't look bad at all-- from a distance. But the technology is DEAD wrong on this. A perfectly good cross has been RUINED by an idiot fraudulently trying to "improve" this for resale.
Motorhead Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Yes,another beautyful Meybauer ruined! From time to time these EKs appear at fleamarkets for totally crazy prices That's a shame......Micha
Ronny Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 Thanks fellows. That was bad news. Fortney It was not expensive less then a EKII 39, but still. Thanks for the help. Cheers,Ronny
