Does anyone know what the "68" stood for on some Schwerin Berlin maker marks and why some had them and some did not?

Area code. South West 68 (SW68) Several manufacturers were located here- Schwerin, Juncker, Meybauer. Very much an industrial area which is why it was heavily bombed.

These postal codes with the compass point indicator prefix ( N = Nord, O=Ost, NO = Nordost etc) were in use until the 1960s and ultimately replaced by a five figure numeric code.
