Tony Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Here are a few photos I find interesting and hope some of you do too. What do these collar dogs indicate, anyone know?Tony
Tony Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Imagine having to lug those shells up to the front while under fire, never mind the mud, rain, flies, stench etc.Tony
sambolini Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) Hi,Interesting photos. I'm no expert, but the insignia in the first photo look like one of the post war ad hoc fighting units i.e. Frei Korps , Brigade Earhardt, etc. I also think the photo with the gentleman at cards is interesting. ( note the balloon recognition chart on the wall behind them). Thanks for posting.Regards,Sam Edited November 1, 2007 by sambolini

It would be nice if he is Freikorps. Thanks Tony
Guest Rick Research Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Freikorps didn't remove the Reichs cockade. Your man is indeed Freikorps, but from the generic insignia (gold or silver colored) it could be--Freiwilligen Landesj?gerkorps, FW-Detachements: Probstmayr or Bogend?rfer, FW-17. Inf Division, or Freikorps von H?lsen, so this is one of the most widely used designs.I suspect it was readily available as an existing generic shooting club type insignia and so pressed into ready-made service.
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I think it is the Zeit-freiwilligen Korps Leipzig. They have a rather distinctive "Flat top" to the upward pointing leaf on the inside of the collar.(The wifes great grandfather served in this unit)
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 forget the above, looks totally different. My mistake.
