James Clark Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 For those who haven't seen it, well worth a look at Detlev Niemann's update from yesterday for a rare chance to see a pair of SS ribbon bars as part of an attributed SS-Leibstandarte RK group. (For medal bar collectors: the medal bar in the Luftwaffe RK group is also interesting).

Guest Rick Research Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Notice the "blank" long service ribbon. For whatecer reason, the mini SS long service devices were very rarely used. Lower ranks very often have a Bulgarian war ribbon bravery award from the Yugoslav/Greek campaigns from the spring of 1941, and a 1941/42 East Medal-- all classic indiciators of LSSAH groups.Of course it is always entirely possoble when an Iron Cross/"blank" long service/"triple flowers" combination shows up that it MIGHT have been Polizei or RAD, chances are it is LSSAH.So always keep an eye out for COMBAT "blank" bars.
