It almost looks like a Godet. There are a number of similarities. The

width of the hinge block. the shape of the pin, the style of the crown and

the date. But there are a few things that are not quite right. The placement

of the hinge is VERY high on the cross. The catch is different and the frame

detail is very week.

I think it is a Godet "wanna be". Original or fake ? I can't say for sure--sorry.

the fit and finish if this cross, especially the reverse,

gives me some concern. it just doesn't have the smooth

lines that even later war crosses using less expensive

materials have.

greg's points re: hinge are also correct.

in looking at this again, i really don't have problems with the obverse...

it is all the reverse that doesn't meet my "joy factor"....

for whatever reason, it appears to have been played with.

Hey Joe and Greg,

I see what you guys mean.

On the lower leg of the cross is a strange bent.

If i look closer it looks like something has been brusched against it.

Maybe somebody tryed to clean it.

The cross is in silver and has been tested.

The hinge is high on the cross but it seems not to been added later.

I seen crosses with a high hinge,but i am not the expert.

For the detail on the front, the picture is not sharp.

The feel of the cross is good and it looks like it has indured some hard times.

If the crosse is a fake,do you think the makers would make it in silver Joe?

I don't think this is a fake or a "patchwork" EK! Please remember that Godet and Meybauer have used the same core-and I belive they didn't made them by them self! But first-please make a good pic from the obverse!
