    Officer's Shoulder Board

    Recommended Posts

    Charles,

If it is a Train officer board, then it would be difficult to differentiate. The earlier Train underlay was a pale blue. This appears more like the darker Kaliblau, which was used later. So I would vote for the it being a Friedensrock piece.

Does that translate to cornflower blue?

I agree that Kaliblau is "Potash-blue", but the normal English equivalent is Prussian blue. If you look it up in a German/English dictionary it is translated as Prussian blue. You won't find Potash-Blue in a standard English dictionary, but you will find Prussian blue. So we are both right! ;)

    Okay,

I have the entire tunic now. I assume the piping is correct for Landwehr Cavalry.

Update... after research it appears these are the correct boards for a Friedensrock. The insignia has been removed and it appears to have had numbers and pips. I think one pip for Olt.

I cant tell if if was a single or double number.
