taucher Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Yes get Micha's opinion, but there's not much Mike K doesn't know about these things. If he says it I'm halfway to the bank.SteveIts not my intention to doubt Mike K or anybody here.I don't know who has the knowledge on the matter.(Its not me)If it seems this way i apologize.
Steve campbell Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 SteveIts not my intention to doubt Mike K or anybody here.I don't know who has the knowledge on the matter.(Its not me)If it seems this way i apologize. No no, I never meant it that way at all. Just throwing a compliment to Mike and letting you know I trust his opinion. Mike and Micha are the 2 guys who I trust the most and who have helped me a great deal when it comes to Iron Crosses.
joe campbell Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 and i'll stick with my original opinion.an upside down maker mark on the upperarm of an EK abutting a stabilizing pin(which was part of the cross well beforefinishing and adding the maker mark).... OR....a monkeyed-with cross to increase the value.joe
taucher Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Hey Joe,Nothing wrong with that.I accept your opinion fully and also understand your opinion. The question off increasing the value. The seller is a trusted man and did NOT in anywayrefur to the marking because he did not know. When i told him about the mark he was honestand more than willing to take it back.I kept it with me because i was not sure and askedyou guys for your opinion first for witch i thank you.For wathever its worth it's still hanging in the balance........I keep you guys posted of my decision.
joe campbell Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 i appreciate your feedback!there are many things i like about this cross, and this should be no reflection on the seller.it sounds like you trust him and have a good relationship.i suspect he is simply selling something he came into.good luck with your collecting!joe
Mike K Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Some genuine 1939 L/52 EK1 screwbacks were marked with an upside-down maker mark above the anti-spin pin. I do not see why some Imperial versions from the same period were also not marked in the same strange way.RegardsMike
