Bill Dienna Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Guys...I can't seem to identify the first ribbon of the second row on this uniform. Can anyone help me out? Many thanks !
JimZ Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I thought that this site might help you but it does not! - http://www.medals.lava.pl/it/it3.htmMy only thought is that the ribbon may be mounted upside down.... as the usual sequence for the Italian flag in the middle is green white and red.Sorry if this does not help much!Jim
Bill Dienna Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Thanks, Jim.I did in fact find that site during my search efforts. Unfortunately, it covers post WW II Italian ribbons, and this is on a tunic circa 1919-1920.I agree with you, though, that the ribbon may indeed be mounted upside down !
Elmar Lang Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 (edited) Hello, the ribbon (yes, it's mounted upside-down), is that for the never issued medal "Valore sul Campo" (Valour on the Field). The ribbon alone, can be found quite easily so, it's possible that the ribbon bars on the uniform have been made (or completed) after the war.Best wishes,Enzo Edited January 17, 2008 by Elmar Lang
Ed_Haynes Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Enzo - Would ribbon bars on the pocket flap be normal?
Elmar Lang Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi Ed,actually, italian ribbon bars should be sewn above the pocket flap and not onto it. After regulations, each row should be of maximum 4 ribbons."Variations" do exist!...Enzo
