    Recommended Posts

    Hello All,

I've been offered a WW1- EK1 from the maker K.A.G. the intials are stamped on the pin. I've looked through my makers list the firm K.A.G. is there but no information. Does anyone have information or a EK1 picture from K.A.G. - i.e. common make or rare? and price range?. Thanks in advance.

KAG is a fairly common maker, seemingly more common in the 2nd class than the 1st class, but definatley not rare. It is no where near as common as KO in my opinion. The marking always seems to be on the pin and two diffrent core types have been ID'ed, the standard core and one known as a wide crown which is harder to find. There are also a couple of diffrent types of hardware that have been seen, ie pin variations. KAG is an unknown maker in that the firm has not been identified. KAGs are usually flat, not vaulted and are considered wartime award pieces as opposed to private purchase pieces. Nice crosses for sure. Pictures would help all the same to ensure authenticity.

    Hello,

Thanks Naxos for the links, after posting the enquiry I did find pictures of K.A.G.'s on Gentlemans EK data base, and thanks to the two Campballs, especially Steve for the potted history. Looking through the data base I realized the maker was a common one, nevertheless that the details over the firm are almost unkown is surprising. Again many thanks to all.
