restore order of the golden kite?

Hi everyone,

I have been pondering this for a while now, my question is this I have a Order of the golden kite 7th class the gold has fadded away on the kite. I have been thinking of restoring this, should I and how would i go about it?

Suggestion: Don't so this. The gold gilt is thin and was made that way. "Fixing" this would be a more radical step than "fixing" your dog.

Please, don't destroy a nice piece that is just showing its age.
