Don?t use a direct flash. Best results you?ll have outside during sunshine in the shadow imo. Could you please post also pics from the liner, please ? It could be a former KM helmet as you stated, but I?m not sure. The Heer eagle looks good to me. I can?t figure out from the photos whether the first decal is KM or not. I post a Heer eagle and KM eagle of my collection here to compare. A KM eagle has to have a deep golden tone. The maker stamp has to be on the right inside near the D rings. From the pics it could be an ET 64 or 66 ???I believe that your helmet was reissued in 1940. The germans put a textured camo on it with a new eagle decal sitting atop of the camo. After decades the camo had partly gone and the first eagle reappeared.
