John Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 What are they using Military Dogs for in Iraq, and why aren't the US using them?
bigjarofwasps Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I suppose as explosives sniffer dogs, and to guard the camps.
Biscuit Brown Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 I think they are being used for arms cache searches and tracking terrorists. I doubt they would send guard dogs out there as the none of the british camps eem to be permanent. The guard dogs are a very different kettle of fish. Only the handler can touch them, as they are savage ! Probably not a P.R. winner....
bigjarofwasps Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Haven`t seen any military guard dogs out here yet, but I`ll keep an eye out for you. There`s loads of stray dogs kicking round the place if that helps any, interestingly all the ones I`ve seen have all been the same colour?
bigjarofwasps Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Well its been a few months now, and can confirm that I still haven`t seen any military dogs.I can however confirm that the stray dogs are not all the same colour, I`ve seen a wide varity of colours, shapes and sizes, now. A few cats and birds. One of the guys claimed to have seen a desert hedgehog the other morning, but this report is yet to be confirmed. There seems to be no shortage of dead horses either, especially on the way into Basrah.
Guest paracollector Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Military dogs are there, you just don't hear about them unless they are chewing up a prisoner. Here is a short article about how you can support US Military dogs in Iraq.http://www.xeal.com/articles/Support_Sough...id_Military.htmJohn
