Peter J Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Here's a rather unusual Finnish decoration, with a medal bar generally associated with USSR. Anyone care to comment?cheersPeter

Peter J Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 Hi Kevin,Of course you're correct, a sudden attack of brain glitch What I meant to say was that it's not a typical Finnish style of bar. Thanks for giving the cross an official name cheersPeter
Megan Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 See http://www.medals.org.uk/finland/finland128.htmAnyone know more about it?
Jani Tiainen Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) See http://www.medals.org.uk/finland/finland128.htmAnyone know more about it?Its cross given to Veterans of Finnish the Army in the in the 55th anniversary of the Finnish Military Forces. I think the ones received that in 1936 were the career (cadre) officers who were in Finnish Army in that year - and I guess officers who has got their officer training in Imperial Finnish Army (= Imperial Russian Army before 1917) also received these but there was not many left at that time. Its quite complicated cross and among few others like this much undervalued these days. I should re-check my references.Jani Edited March 24, 2008 by Jani Tiainen
Peter J Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Thanks Jani. Here's an image illustrating it's unusual bar. Is this a unique style or are there other Finnish decorations with this type?cheersPeter
