Guest Rick Research
Wow! Amazing. What a contrast with the horrible, cheap-looking "gems" version! I have been priced out of Soviet awards too-- prices are simply INSANE. But I suppose it is too late on the other Warsaw pact countries too. That just leaves Cuba.... Anatoly13
This orders are very very rare and very very expensive.
Carol I
...so far its not many fakes around.I am not into communist awards, but I would not bet on this. I heard that fakes are rather frequently being produced with the original dies. Do anyone know about any books about Romanian awards? Is there any?If you read Romanian some (read "little") information can be found in S. Catone, N. Şerbănescu, D. Bedivan: Rom?nia - Decoraţii 1859-1991 [Romania - Decorations 1859-1991] Bucharest 1992.
Carol I
What a contrast with the horrible, cheap-looking "gems" version! The first masters of the State Mint were the same that produced the WWII orders, so the high quality of the early orders is not surprising. Eric Schena
Been some time since this thread has seen some activity, so here's a type II RSR version of the Order for Distinguished Services in Defense of the Social Order and the Country. Shame it has some scratches on the obverse and reverse, but considering this type was awarded for all of two years, I am not complaining... Guest Rick Research
 Wish I had any clue at all how to "value" these or any of the other Warsaw Pact awards we so rarely see.
