Hendrik
Hello Jason,The bar looks to be gilt and thus replaces 5 silver ones, indicating 3 years of front line service ...Cheers,Hendrik
jshorter
Thank you very much for the information! I would assume then that one would receive a silver bar for every 6 months of front service?Best regards!Jason
Hendrik
Jason,Almost right : 1st silver bar after 1 year, subsequent bars after every 6 months of further frontline service.Cheers,Hendrik
love4history
One of the most common Belgian WWI medals you have there, but IMHO one of the most interesting, with an complete aresenal of possible attachments for the ribbon. Ranging from these gilt or silver frontstripes, indicating the time of frontservice, crosses for wounds, anchors for sailors, stars for recovered wounded personnel, crown for volunteers etc.....
