D.A.F. SANTA Suit Patch ?

Brought by today by an Epsonless friend for scanning--

This sturdy, double sided, and LARGE shield shaped patch would seem to have been intended for SOMETHING like a sports vest, since it is as wide as a sleeve, so too large for that sort of patch.

But RED background??????

As far as I'm aware these patches were worn by officals on the left breast of the track suit top. You can also find them with "Sportamt" & "?bungswart" written on them.

They also came with "Schiesswart" and "Skiwart" on them in black lettering. So they were worn by coaches and I assume were on the left pocket of a jacket.
