Guest Rick Research Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Nope. Too many visual aids missing with no medal bar ribbons. We have no Research Gnomes working on pure pre-World War groups. Still slaving in the 1914-18 Rolls mines. Very nice Major's group though, from just before the war. Maybe a newly promoted Lieutenant Colonel. I wouldn't think a retiree, so an active duty officer who had occasions to wear a tuxedo instead of his uniform....
Stogieman Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I don't think the chief Gnome? has pre-1900 references yet?
medalnet Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Well, I was told by the grand son it was "Bernhard Gottschalk or Gottschalck", yet I could not find him in my limited research library. Edited May 28, 2008 by medalnet
Guest Rick Research Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 No match of awards to that name by either spelling 1902-1914. Must have been his OTHER Opa!!!!
medalnet Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 No match of awards to that name by either spelling 1902-1914. Must have been his OTHER Opa!!!!I need to ask them again....
Daniel Cole Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Maybe it was Thomas Gotschalk from Wetten Das fame!
HeikoGrusdat Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Maybe it was Thomas Gotschalk from Wetten Das fame!NO way........... Thomas would have worn his "golden medal for making 40 years holiday in Florida" in the first place...... but it is missing on this beautiful chain, so it is not him!!! 100% !!!
Daniel Cole Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I thought I had a sure bet on that one. Damn, Good thing I didn't make a wager.
medalnet Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 He would certainly have qualified to be a non-combatant
