Eric Stahlhut Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) another view of the obverse. this one still has the original protective laquer intact. some makers did this. the white sparkles you see is light reflecting from it. this cross has never been worn. gregM Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Very nice Eric. You have posted some great crosses lately.
Eric Stahlhut Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 thank you very much, greg! i am still working my way back thru all of the threads on this forum and have noticed that you have some exceptional items. i also remember you from the WAF
Motorhead Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Yes......full score-this is an unmarked "K.M.S.T"! Is the washer also unmarked? this cross is a killer! here is my maker marked brother of your EK.Micha
Motorhead Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 The reverse of my K.M silver wb-notice the little "K.M" punched at the washer.
Eric Stahlhut Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 hmmmm,ok, random thought #9789: i wonder if k.m.s.t. had anything to do with those 'condor legion' screwback wound badges that everyone has gone back and forth about for years..... you never know! will have to find my 'c.l.' example in order to compare design characteristics with your k.m. s/b, michap.s. the only marks on the ek are the double stamped silver marks.
Motorhead Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 A legit question-please have a look here:http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28471Both wbs are identical, the pinback has got the same markings you can find on pinback K.M.S.T. EKs.Also the safety catch is there...Micha
Eric Stahlhut Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 i will try to find my silver "1936" s/b woundbadge in order to compare discs, etc. i'm pretty sure it is identical to the disc on your example. i realize that it might not turn out, but it would be neat if one could establish a link between the k.m.s.t. maker and these 'mystery' screwback wound badges that no one seems to know very much about.i know i have one, but the question is......where did i put it!
Eric Stahlhut Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 here is an image of the obverse. how does it compare to your k.m. w/b? any similarities?
Eric Stahlhut Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) i was always under the impression that these 1936 s/b woundbadges were copies, btw.p.s. notice all of that corrosion on the disc? well, the disc seems to be coated with some type of laquer that is having a bad reaction with the metal. hmmmm.
