Guest Paolovski
Hi all.I'm relatively new to collecting WW2 German militaria but i must say that it's absolutely fascinating and highly addictive!!!!! How much money do i earn!!!!!!! Nowhere near enough.I was wondering if someone out there could help me.I've found a very nice "Paul Meybauer" EK1,or at least that's what the dealer tells me.He's quite a reputable dealer but the thing is that this cross isn't marked and it has a straight pin,not fishtailed.......What do you think???Here's some pics;[attachmentid=13351]

Guest Darrell
The cross appears to be a Zimmerman. Check this out:http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/iron_cross...l_52/2/L_52.htmThe Paul Meybauer's should look similar to this:http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/iron_cross...cturers/7/7.htmorhttp://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/iron_cross...13/4/l_13_4.htm
Guest Paolovski
Thanks Darrell.I know the pin seems wrong, also.if you look at the 1939 the tails on the 3 and 9 on both the Zimmerman and the Meybauer seem to curl in more than the one in my picture.Really don't know what to think....It is a lovely example though.Paul
Guest Darrell
Hi Paul,The cross is fine. But it is NOT a Meybauer made piece. Probably someone put the Zimmerman in this case to make a pair thats all. Edited October 15, 2005 by Darrell
Jan Arne S
Hi Paul !I agree with Darrell , but could the Cross be Godet , Berlin ? Jan Arne
Guest Paolovski
Thank you very much for the advice chaps.I have now decided not to go with this one...It doesn't feel right somehow.I've seen another one from a very reputable dealer, makers mark Steinhauer & Luck.Thing is,i think the case is wrong for this Iron Cross too.....It's an LDO case, but the makers mark isn't an LDO number......Any ideas??? If it is "4" and inside an LDO case, it too has been a mismatched pair.
