Laurence Strong Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Just arrived, a rare pair of Sonderfuehrer 1940 pattern straps used by a Railway Specialist.
Paul R Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Where on earth did you find those?! What others were there? I know of medical and veterinary.
Laurence Strong Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) Hi PaulThere were 8 that I was aware of. The scan comes from the "TM-E 30-451: Handbook on German Military Forces" this was writen during the war, so I think they might not have had all the devices....I wonder what else is out there. Then there are people like Karl Leffler who was a farmer and I dont think they wore devices. Paul R Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Awesome stuff Larry!! You would not happen to have seen one of the latter pattern NCO Sonderfuhrer boards, would you?
Laurence Strong Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 From what I have read the NCO's retained the shoulder cords from the 1939 uniform on the 1940 uniform. There was a third change in 1942, however I have not got the chance to translate that yet.
Laurence Strong Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 I have been offered these as a set of unauthorised collar tabs for a Sonderfuhrer. I like the construction, just unsure of what they are, if anyone could shed some light on them I would be forever grateful
Paul R Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 They look like they are either extremely worn RAD Admin tabs or RAD Legal tabs. Both so very rare that if the price is anywhere near what you pay for a set of WH Sonderfuhrer tabs you should do so quickly!

Laurence Strong Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) "Die Deutsche Wehrmacht Uniformierung und Ausrustung" by Schlicht and Angolia. it's the German version of the English series "Uniforms and traditions of the..." I was told that the German version was the definitive book to buy. Thanks for the reply on the tabs. That is a interesting reply, well worth looking into. Edited June 24, 2008 by Laurence Strong
Paul R Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I thought that this was a duplicate of Angolia's three volumes condensed into one german language version... Are you telling me that there are differences in the content?!?!
Laurence Strong Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Hi PaulNot sure, as I don't have the English version of the Heer set. It was considerably cheaper than the english version.
