Mike Fawson Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Hello,Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong froum, I'm not quite sure where to post this.I have had the below National Sozialistische Deutscher Frontk?mpferbund Stahlhelm badge for a couple of almost a couple of years. Through all my research I have yet to find another example of this specific type of pin and have not been able to find out when and to whom they were issued. If anyone can tell me more about the badge? I would be very interested. Thanks,Mike
Kev in Deva Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) Hallo Mike, all I can add is that in the book,"Deutscheland Orden & Ehrenzeichen 1800-1945" by Jorg Nimmergut its listed under:-"Stahlhelm / Bund der Frontsoldaten:2418/1 kleiner Bundesstern f.d. erweiterten Bundesrat. ." I believe they were a 1934 - 1934 issue only. Kevin in Deva  Edited June 23, 2008 by Kev in Deva

Kev in Deva Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Hallo Mike, I believe there is a new 2008 edition out, these are the pocket size ones, now with color pictures.Perhaps some of our German members could confirm it, and let us know where they are available from?I have the 1983/84, 1989/90, 1997/98, 2003/2004, 2005/2006and the book on ribbons 1991 / 1992so its time to upgrade. Old versions do show up on German Ebay from time to time. Kevin in Deva.
Mike Fawson Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 Hell Kevin,Thanks for the information on the book.I have received some further information on the badge - it appears they were worn by the F?hrer's of the NSDFBSt., on a cross strap of the Sam Browne belt.Cheers,Mike

Mike Fawson Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) Yeah, I've seen a lot of the "standard" stahlhelm badges, they are very common.I would be interested to know how many of the type I have are still in existence? From my recent research - very few (and before you ask - the badge is NOT for sale) Mike Edited July 4, 2008 by Fugpaw
Chris Clark Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 mike the first badge you show is not that common . the second very common.the Bundesstern is extremly rare the badge you show is a group leaders type of badge and not the extremly rare Bundesstern. i'll try dig out a pic for you.regards chris
Ulsterman Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 very, very rare indeed. Actually, these were probably awarded in the Fall of 1933 as well, before the Stahlhelm was "coordinated" (amalgamated) into the SA Reserve entirely in 1934. There were fewer than 250 wearers of these awards at the time-and photos from 1934 show a number of the older stars still in wear up to the disbandment/purges/amalgamation.
Beau Newman Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hello Kevin,Thanks for the information.I have been trying for ages to get a copy of the book "Deutscheland Orden & Ehrenzeichen 1800-1945" by Jorg Nimmergut.Cheers,MikeThe new edition is available on German ebay. Do a search for "Nimmergut" and several should come up. About 40 Euros plus shipping. The new edition is quite a bit larger than previous years.
