Snoopy Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I bought a few buttons at a flea market this weekend. I bought them because they cost allmost nothing. I know nothing about these buttons, other than that they are dated 1941. There are two sizes. the smaller ones are marked on the reverse. and they are silver, looks allmost like unpainted metal. The larger buttons are painted in a light brown paint. They are unmarked. Can anyone tell me if they are Kriegsmarine, merchant navy or something else. I have only photos of the smaller ones at the moment, but I can take photos of the larger buttons, if desired. I would appreciate your help. All the bestSnoopy
perce Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Hi SnoopyThink they are Kreigsmarine because of the colour and they are dated and have no crown on them(British naval buttons aren't dated from memory) Is there a makers mark on the back apart from the date?Cheers Perce

Yes, they are maker marked. The manufacturer is "A & S". I seem to remember that I have seen other german military buttons, from this manufacturer. All the bestSnoopy
