    Having being bored to death with the latest offerings on the TV about soaps and "Reality TV", I Thought I would go away and a have a look at my"What's in this" box, archive, and found this

    Attached is a spange I suspect worn by a Vet of WWI. Nothing particularly fantastic about it but it does appear to be authentic to the period, I would guess 1920-1930's measures 43 mm in width, quite like it. it does seem to have seem some original use.

    It's a sweetheart pin made from the driving band of an artillery shell. Neat little piece :cheers:

    I believe most of these don't really use driving bands from fired artillery shells. They all seem so uniformly made. My guess is some businessman saw a trench art piece and decided to manufatcure them himself.
