Kev in Deva Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hallo Gents, trying to identify what this Hungarian piece is:-http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2008/post-950-1220203082.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2008/post-950-1220203099.jpgit has a period bodge (repair) with the addition of the long pin.But a very nice enameled star Kevin in Deva.
Gordon Craig Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Kevin,This piece is a police cap badge for the HUPR period. The top two solder points are where the prongs that held the badge to the hat were attached. Someone has removed them and soldered a pin on the back instead.Regards,Gordon
Kev in Deva Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Hallo Gordon, thanks for the information, should it be left as it is, or the pin and large lump of solder removed? Kevin in Deva.
Gordon Craig Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) Kevin,I would remove the solder and the pin. They never existed this way. Chances of finding the prongs for the back are slim but I'll keep my eyes open for something that would do the job and send it to you if I find something.Cheers,Gordonps-what is the diametre of the badge? They came in a number of different sizes. Edited September 4, 2008 by Gordon Craig
