Are you sure this is WW2 era and not from the 20s or 30s? It looks vaulted and has hardware that looks like early Shinkle, but no other TR type of cross. The case is WW2 but the EK may be earlier.

the ldo case is why i called it ww2..and yep the cross is vaulted. you are certainly correct--it's probably old stock that was mated with a later case...

p.s. it measures in at 43mm exactly

I think Steve is right. I was always told that this particular style of cross was a

1920s-30s made piece.

Either way it's a nice set, but it's hard to say if the two items came together. I would say no, as the case is probably mid war, with the cross maybe being 15-20 years older or more.

all true, but the lining of the lid on the case is smudged precisely from the core of the cross, which fits into case like no other cross has been in it. i'm not about to separate them.

we've all seen stranger things-- such as '39 meybauer Ek1s with '14 meybauer backing plate systems, etc etc.

No doubt they have been together for awhile. How long would it take for the effect you mention to happen? Ten years? Thirty? Thirty years is along time, yet it only puts us at 1978. Like i said, great set either way. I'd love to have it.
