Eric Stahlhut
here's something i got a while back from an esteemed fellow forum member. not because of it's aesthetic value, mind you ! i obtained it because you simply don't see a lot of these in zinc. VtwinVince
Pardon my ignorance, but is this not a converted second class? I've never seen a first class with the reverse of a second class.
Eric Stahlhut
Pardon my ignorance, but is this not a converted second class? I've never seen a first class with the reverse of a second class.that's not an ignorant question--it's a logical question! this double-sided variant is a known type--i remember back in the days (90s) when all of the leading german internet dealers had 4 or 5 examples of this award on offer at any given time--and you occaisionally would see the double sided version. but almost always in gilded bronze and flat. the zinc vaulted version is considered scarce. to make it even scarcer: the 'rim' or 'frame' portion of the cross is 'gekornt'! nimmergut mentions both of these features (along with others) in his catalogs.hope this helps,~e Edited September 26, 2008 by Eric Stahlhut
