Rittmeister Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Alas this is as large as I could get it. I can't make out a single award so this will be a job for the experts.
love4history Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Alas this is as large as I could get it. I can't make out a single award so this will be a job for the experts.Nearly impossible to tell I'm afraid. The only one I would dare to guess is the middle one on the bottom for the first world war commemorative medal. The one just before that should theoretically be the interallied victory medal.
Detlev Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 The only one I would dare to guess is the middle one on the bottom for the first world war commemorative medal.couldn't it be the Ijzermedal?perhaps we should get to receive the original picture, so we can take a closer look?
love4history Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Could be, but not likely... I would expect the Ijzer-medal a bit higher up in ranking and if he had the Ijzermedal he should have at least two more ribbons after that: the victory and the commemorative...
love4history Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 This being said, I do believe the middle one in the middle row could actually be the Yser medal. The red and black darker compared to the yellow and red of the commemorative in the lowest row.
love4history Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 The ribbons in between (right one on the second row and the left one on the bottom row) then would make sense as the Fire Cross and the Interallied Victory Medal
Detlev Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 The ribbons in between (right one on the second row and the left one on the bottom row) then would make sense as the Fire Cross and the Interallied Victory Medalit surely is an officer, because some 'rosettes' can be seen on the top row, and as I zoom in, I must say 'love4' is more than right to say the one in the middle of the front row is the Yzer medal.
