bigjarofwasps Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Stumbled across this coin, thought it might be of interest!!!
Guest Rick Research Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Why are the Manx issuing coins with an American decoration illustrated by a WW2 Pacific battle scene of U.S. Marines throwing lit sticks of dynamite rather than hand grenades?Ooooog! Are there MORE?
Ed_Haynes Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Why are the Manx issuing coins with an American decoration illustrated by a WW2 Pacific battle scene of U.S. Marines throwing lit sticks of dynamite rather than hand grenades?Ooooog! Are there MORE? I think they do it because they can sell coins like this and make money. What is, after all, the major Manx source of foreign exchange? Isn't it philately and numismatics?
ehrentitle Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Perhaps they are Engineers? Those are the only folks that would have had a ready supply of sticks of dynamite. But even that would have been a bit of a stretch. Kevin
bigjarofwasps Posted October 31, 2005 Author Posted October 31, 2005 Very good didn`t notice the dynamite!!!!!!No idea, why they have done a silver star medal? Surely an MC one who have been more relevant wouldn`t it?And why the pacific is anyones guess???
Guest Rick Research Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 What I'm wondering is... did they ALSO issue a coin with an Iron Cross on it last year?
coastie Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) Found the mint that does the coins, follow this link and you will see the other medals (sorry no Iron Cross)http://www.pobjoy.com/productsgroups.asp?l...4&group=1,2,355 Edited November 1, 2005 by coastie
