Gordon Williamson Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Looks OK. The hardware, reverse set up etc is absolutely correct. Flaws on late war Zinkers are not that uncommon.Dimernsions and weights should confirm if it is good, or one thats been cast from an original. Should be around 26.3 gr and dimensions in the region of 55mm x 44.5mm.
Martin W Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Despite the flaws i like this one also. The "flattened" look to the "R" on the maker mark is consistent with other period Minesweepers i have seen by Souval.Regards,Martin.
Ed Maroli Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 The RS late war bades also tend to loose their gilding but keep a silver splash.~Ed
Guest Darrell Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) The RS late war bades also tend to loose their gilding but keep a silver splash.~EdInteresting. Wouldn't it be great to determine the difference between the white finish (that remained 100%) to the Gilt finish that is now gone. AND ... how this paint compared to the GWL line of badges that are notorious for retaining their finish (ie LW badges). Edited October 24, 2008 by Darrell
