Sivart Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Got this the other day, apparently it used to belong to an Iraqi officer who received it in the 70's or 80's. Information is kind of sketchy as an interpreter gave it to me. Were these things commonly given to foreign military members or did one have to earn them? I am guessing by the quality of the pin that they are very common and mass produced, but this officially constitutes my first Soviet piece!Sivart
Guest Rick Research Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 This is simply a souvenir type pin. It says "USSR Weights."The way you can tell if something is an officially awarded bage or a purchased souvenir is that the letter type will bear the unit price (so no cheating by Comrade Vendor) on back.
russiamilitaria Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Souvenir type (about Soviet sport) pin - nothing more.
