Christian J Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I think we had a thread on this subject some time ago. But I can't seem to find it.Here is another example (recently sold) that the duke (and probably other of his compadres) kept bestowing house-orders after the war and weimar era.
Deruelle Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Very interresting. Do you have a photo of the back of this medal ? Is it the same as CM2 pre-war ? It's the first time for me I heard such medal still awarded to this date. We know taht Duke Carl Eduard still give some Saxe Ernestine cross with swords (on ring) or without swords to this date but nothing about this medal. Great newsChristophe
Guest Rick Research Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Very interesting indeed.
Ulsterman Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) Fascinating!! Thanks for showing this to us. A Coburg 'Prince Alfons" badge -sort of...A MOST interesting first paragraph of the letter too!Have you read "The Royals and the Reich" at all? Edited November 22, 2008 by Ulsterman
Christian J Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Fascinating!! Thanks for showing this to us. A Coburg 'Prince Alfons" badge -sort of...A MOST interesting first paragraph of the letter too!Have you read "The Royals and the Reich" at all?Seems the two were pals.I've only seen a sensationalistic documentary on the subject. I will try to get hold of the mentioned book. Here is the back, but can't say that I'm very experienced with these, so please enlighten me with the variants.
