    More Bulgarian uniforms

    Recommended Posts

    • 2 weeks later...

There are two buttons to support a belt on the back side. This uniform could be worn with the officer leather belt, too.

Nice, I have a general's tunic of the sam type but no visor cap... :catjava:

I'm looking for the visor but haven't come across one yet... will trade an officer of infantry for one or even an officer of infantry for an officer of artillery.

Very nice tunics. I especially like the overcoat. The Bulgarian military had extremely nice overcoats.

What's the deal with caps? It seems like for every dozen tunics you can only find one visor cap. And the cap is most often the one you aren't looking for. :speechless:

Not always, I've seen many times the opposite case - once got 6 caps for Generals and senior officers, different branches /all belonged to a General of the cavalry - gifts to him from colleagues or what???/, not a single tunic with them. Once got 3 pilot hats - no tunics. And several times got one or two hats together, no tunics. And of course, many times I get tunics and no hats.

Here is one more - summer service tunic /seems wartime model from rough canvas/ to an officer from horse-drawn mountain artillery - looks like a simple artillery tunic with artillery buttons, but also has the cavalry triangle pattern on the boards.

Another one. Compared to the ordinary officer visors, these are a bit taller, the red color goes more to wine-red and purple-red than usual and also the quality is superior, the materials used for the lining are much better than the ordinary.

I can only dream about the beautiful uniforms, that used to go with these hats! Unfortunately no clue if those ever survived or if did, where are now. Another view of that beautiful hat. The pictures do not show it well, I think it is my best piece!

Interesting, is the tunic made of the same type cloth, like the hat? I had never seen before a hat or a tunic made of that cloth!

Talking about quality, it was not a trade mark of the Generals. For example, here I have some uniforms to a lt.-colonel. Did this guy love to look perfect!!!!!! I have his 3 summer service uniforms /well, tunics only/. These should be simple service uniforms - but no, he has taken those to a completely different level! First, the material. According to the regulations, greenish canvas. But wow, what a canvas!!!! One is close to the regular, but the other two are made of such fine canvas, that I never thought existed! And then the tailor - definitely he visited some extra special tailor to make those service uniforms! Such fine detail, such craftsmanship - I can speak general, that all uniforms of those time were very well made. But these here stand for their own! I can only be sorry, that the Parade uniforms and the hats of this guy are missing, trying to imagine their materials and quality!

First tunic - unfortunately "the magic" is lost in the camera! In reality these things are superb, among my favorite, no matter they're the most simple service type.
