    These and all the similar patriotic/civil defense badges from the 1930s were handed out by the hundreds of thousands. Duplicates would seem rather more bother than just handing over another one.

    What is the official name for these badges?

    And, to keep the visual image going, the certificate to V. B. Lavrinovich (his badge seems to have gone missing over the years).

    you guessed it-- Stalin. (I'm SURE he sweated through all the tests. :rolleyes: )

    I'm not sure exactly when these were phased out-- probably during the war. Over 2 1/2 million awarded.
