    Please define "reputable dealer."

    scottplen,

I can not really render an opinion on your bar; but I must say that in over thirty years

of collecting Imperial German, I can not recall a dealer who has not made an honest

mistake, or two, along the way.

Your comment ?I think he mostly deals in US items !? immediately raises a red flag.

Simply because he is a dealer (mostly US) does not mean that he knows more about

Imperial German medal bars, which I believe is your special area of interest, than you.

Trust your instincts and the opinions of the Forum members who really know these things.

    Regards,

The bar is entirely bad, as you have correctly observed. Kudos.

Therefore I remark again-- define "reputable."

It has been my experience that MANY people do not have anywhere NEAR the "reputation" that they tell you that they have... if you had actually ASKED ANYBODY ELSE.

    Guys,

For this VERY novice, new to Imperial medals...What makes this a bad bar? I can see what looks like funky aging. I don't think that I've seen a crossed swords attachment on the ribbon of an Honour Cross with swords. What else?

    :speechless: Doc

.....a lot of little things.... the kind of sewing , the pin construction and some more things..... and of course: the personal inner feeling that burns in your head when you see a bar like this  :ninja:
