VtwinVince Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I recently picked up a group of medals and documents to a Saxon Leutnant, Edmund Schill. He was with Infanterie-Regiment 15 Nr. 181, was made an officer in July, 1916, and received the EK1, Friedrich August Medal in Silver and the Albert Order Knight 2nd Class with Swords. If anyone can add any details, it would be greatly appreciated.
Glenn J Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Extract from the 19 July 1916 edition of the Saxon Milit?r-Verordnungsblatt gazetting Vizefeldwebel der Reserve Edmund Schill's commission as a Leutnant der Reserve on 15.7.16.RegardsGlenn
VtwinVince Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Thanks for that, Glenn, I actually have the original Patent for this. I was told that this officer was a recipient of the HOHX, but it is not on his Ordensspange.
Glenn J Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 A Leutnant der Reserve Schill was awarded the HOHX gazetted on 6 July 1918 in the Prussian Milit?r-Wochenblatt. The Saxon Milit?r-Verordnungsblatt did not publish non Saxon awards so it is difficult to be sure it is Edmund Schill.RegardsGlenn
VtwinVince Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 That's great, Glenn, as I heard from the family, second-hand, that he was a recipient, but dismissed it as one of those "stories". I wonder why his HOHX is not on the spange?
