Ed_Haynes Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 If you want help, an image might make something possible. And if you believe it is "Turkish" (I assume you mean Ottoman?) why post it in the Austria-Hungary section?
Kev in Deva Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 An even better question is:Why is it posted twice?http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3460...mp;#entry324883Kevin in Deva.
Elmar Lang Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I think it's a French badge or a French-style badge of an arab country.Most possibly, post-1945.Best wishes,Elmar Lang
Ed_Haynes Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I would fully agree:-- Not Austro-Hungarian (who ever thought it was?!)-- Not Ottoman (or even Turkish)-- Probably French colonial, I'd guess from Tunisia or Algeria
noir 7 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 thanx again sorry for the blank. It's the badge of a french cavalry and recce regiment of the "arm?e d'Afrique": 3? r?giment de spahis alg?riens (~3rd Algerians Spahis Regiment), which was called from 1945 to 1946 "3? r?giment de spahis alg?riens de reconnaissance" (~3rd Algerians Recce Spahis Regiment). In the "spahis", most of the officiers and NCOs were French and the majority of the troopers were indigenous (from Algeria, Tunisia or Marocco: they were in different regiments).
logicalming Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Thanx a million. That is some awesome history, Thank you for the details. i found it to be a curious epeice, but i never would have guessed to be french.
