I. Brief description of personal feat

During the advancing battles of 92nd Rifle Corps in the region of the village Juzhintaj in the month of July of this year, Comrade Shopin, while being in the Command?s staff set up the communication line with 235th Rifle Division under enemy artillery mortar fire.

During one of the air bombing, Comrade Shopin, while using the communication line, personally repaired six damages. Manifesting his courage and wit, he employed for the repairs materials which were at hand thus providing uninterrupted communication with the Command.

Comrade Shopin deserves the awarding of the medal ? For Combat Service ?.

The initial proposal was quite stingy. Luckily it was correcetd at the last moment.

He would have been under PERSONAL bombardment by every piece of artillery that the enemy could bring to bear on him-- out in the open, alone, defenseless. THAT took courage and dedication!
