pado Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Hello I want a info pleaseIs a massonic medal..??Which state and period..??
wm5806 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Hi MaxThanks for your photos.I don't recognise it as an English Masonic medal/jewel, but from the way it is made - especially the hanger and pin - I would guess it to be between 1880-1920.Difficult to give any further information without maker's name, unless someone can identify the medal. The motto "Vincere aut mori" translates (I think) as "Conquer or die" which implies military origins to me.Sorry I can't help more,Richard
jasmor58 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Max,I would agree with what Richard has said. I have never seen an English Or Scottish jewel anything like this.jasmor58
speedytop Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hi,there is a relationship to German Hussar Regiments, the black Hussars, especially the Belling Hussars, later the 8. Husarenregiment:http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic.ph...0c47ba38b3ad8e1But one finds a roughly similar hanger system with British Freemason honorings:RegardsUwe
