I have hawked this photo around a few collectors sites with out any success. But having read some of the threads I feel this time I will get an answer. The cap badge looks to me like an Ostrich

Are those 1920s Coppers? Prison wardens? Look at the epalettes.

The badge looks like a Queen's crown.

Looking closely it looks like a divisional number - with perhaps the div. underneath.I would think Police and probably 1930's - strange feeling it may be the Nth. Irish Police - what do others think ?
