Guest Rick Research Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 :Cat-Scratch: Oho! Although the South German style, and not worn in Austria before the Anschluss... he is not wearinga SINGLE award on it more recent than his Hungarian WW1 Commemorative Medal from circa 1930. NO Hindenburg CrossX... no Wehrmacht long service ribbons...if that ribbon bar turned up loose, I'd think it was a wartime retread circa 1940 whose new Reich awards hadn't been proceeded yet.
Paul R Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That is an interesting bar! When was he awarded the RK? At least six years had passed between the between institutions of the HK and the RK. I guess that updating the ribbon bar was not a priority for him?
Guest Rick Research Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 He got his Oakleaves inFebruary 1944 so I guess he was waiting ... to see how things turned out! :cheeky:
Naxos Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) He got his Oakleaves inFebruary 1944 so I guess he was waiting ... to see how things turned out! ... not too good - a few month later he was killed on the Eastern Front during an air-raid. Edited May 11, 2009 by Naxos
