    :Cat-Scratch: VERY interesting--

    1) That is a Spangenst?ck General Decoration-- note the "normal" ring suspension which was not normal for those old fashioned medals

    2) he is a mere private, so it must be the bronze Weimar GenDec Medal X-- so

    3) how did he end up with a silver Prussian GenDec-- normally given for long years slogging in the bureaucracy?

No name? Don't have the BRONZE Weimar GenDec Medal rolls... but if he got the Prussian GenDec before January 1913 somebody wiuth those Orders Lists could find out what he was to get that.

That 2nd one looks like it may have the motto "VERDIENST IM KRIEG" so, it may be the Schwarzburg Medal. Even though the ribbon looks a little odd, that would make more sense.

:Cat-Scratch: You're right! Usually blue and yellow come out the same shade of "solid" dark in photos of this period, so that faked me out.

I'm not having a good week. I blame my pollen allergy-- everything is COVERED in thick yellow fuzz here, not doing anything for my monocular vision.
