scottplen Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 back ! last medal a bit rusty ! should i get this one? neat to have both merit medals!!!
TacHel Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Looks OK... Though it's the first time I see a recipient of both medals for the Red Eagle and Crown Orders... Quite interesting actually.
Guest Rick Research Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Aside from naval Warrant Officers ("Deckoffiziere"), yes. This was quite a young guy too-- not in the service March 1897, and not enough time in-- and the navy had lots of pre-war double time for service outside home waters-- to have accumulated pension time for an XXV Years Service Cross by demobilization.
Ulsterman Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 yup-so this guy was younger....makes you wonder exactly who he was....Baltic signals?
scottplen Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 what naval units went to finland? could this be Ided ???can't be many with both medals????so as a junior officier he was entilted to 15 yrs nco cross???? or was this a senior nco???
scottplen Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 got this one coming in mail ! thought it was a neat bar will post better pics !
scottplen Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 here close up of bar what is #s awarded of red eagle and crown order medals to one person ?could this one be ided two crown orders plus finland???
Guest Rick Research Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 To identify every enlisted rank holder of BOTH the Red Eagle and Crown Order Medals would require somebody going through all the Prussian Orders Lists and typing them out, combining the lists, and then going down the combined list eliminating suspects. Even that would not work, since aside from Deck Officers, no holders other than a few lucky strays would appear in anything leaving a paper trail. As a "pure Prussiaan" bar such an identification to somebody not an officer is impossible. If there was something ELSE weird or distinctive, other WW1 awards... but no.Sometimes all that can be hoped for is a pretty bar with a nice combination.
scottplen Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 thanks rick i figured it was a long shot! I do like this bar !! what was criteria for finnish award was it for combat in finland ? or just serving in finnish waters ??? i am getting into medal bars with finnish awards! :speechless:
Wild Card Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Here is a similar pair, probably to a Brunswick minor court person.
