Best Chris No - South East Coast of the United KIngdom - origianlly comprising of 5 towns Hastings, Romney,Hyth ,Dover and Sandwich - it was an ancient confederation from the middle ages formed by these town - They are now no longer confederated but the term has stuck in certain usage.
leigh kitchen Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 The term & Cinque Port coat of arms badge still feature on the road signs of the towns, The 5th (Cinque Ports) Bn of the Royal Sussex Regiment, a TF battalion, wore a variation on the standard regimental pattern - the Maltese Cross & Roussillon plume as per the regulars but instead of the Star of the Order of the Garter in the centre, a circle bearing the shield of the Cinque Ports & a name scroll "Cinque Ports".
