    Recommended Posts

Can anyone help with this unit abbreviation found on a Edward Volunteer Force Medal

    " 1/C.P.R.G.A.V."

I would think that the RGAV is Royal Garrison Artillery Volunteer but the P.C.?

    Gordon

Cinque Ports Royal Garrison Artillery Volunteers

The term & Cinque Port coat of arms badge still feature on the road signs of the towns, The 5th (Cinque Ports) Bn of the Royal Sussex Regiment, a TF battalion, wore a variation on the standard regimental pattern - the Maltese Cross & Roussillon plume as per the regulars but instead of the Star of the Order of the Garter in the centre, a circle bearing the shield of the Cinque Ports & a name scroll "Cinque Ports".
