Peter Orincsay Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) I helped a friend of mine to scan some of his old WW2 photographs in his collection. We both cot really curious of the texts on the backside of some of the pictures. I hope there is some friendly member who can help us with some Russian translation? Here is the first photo: Edited August 21, 2009 by Peter Nyitray
Peter Orincsay Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 Photograph number 3. The rank and uniform is unknown to me. Maybe someone can help with that as well?
Peter Orincsay Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 A soldier from the Black sea fleet.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 First one, while taken as a captain 3.12.44 is dedicated "In remembrance to Junior Lieutenant Letschev, N. (cropped off) from Major St(asiok?), V. A. 7.4.47." Can't read all the second one. Similar dedication "to Aunt Katya! From Trofim (Antonovich?)" photo taken "at the front 4.11." and dated under signature scribble 10.11.43. Third one appears to be an anti-tank device (crossed cannon barrels on horizontal <> diamond) on his splendid pre-war overcoat: "For good remembrance to (something) brother Semyen 10 November 1943 Yakov" Petty officer or officer cadet (?wearing OFFICER cap badge): "In remembrance to my best friend in honour of our acquaiantence to Nikolai from Aleksandr (ripped) 07. 1944" and signed with a scribble A. Razu.....
