James T Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Another cast off Red Star I say that with tongue in cheek as I bought this back in 1995 when no one cared about this crazy Russian stuff. The Order of the Red Star is to Major Nikolay Alexandrovich Ipatov on 10/28/1943 Commander of SMERSH Counterintelligence Department of Katlass Garrison Arkhangelsk Military District. I have a little translations on the paperwork and need your help to see if there is anything else of interest. Jim
Ferdinand Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Do you also have the award sheet (citation) describing his feat?
Guest Rick Research Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 These are too small to read, but he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1947, so must have "maxed out in grade" for retirement in 1957. Always makes one wonder whaat he and others like him did AFTERWARDS? Quite a career change there between being discharged in 1932 and 1937-- this is the sort of thing that would be accounted for in an "Autobiography" from his personnel file.
Bill Garvy Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I'd love to see the obverse of this and the other Red Stars you have posted, please. . .
